Phil King has been professionally entertaining, since 1972 when at the age of 17 he became the resident DJ at Pontins Holiday Camp in Southport, Lancashire. Whilst there he picked up on the Northern Soul scene with such classics as Hoagy Lands The Next In Line' and the more commercial 'Sweet Soul Music' of Arthur Conley.
Following this successful season, 1973 found Phil in the clubs around Surrey and Hampshire such as The Tumbledown Dick at Farnborough and Pantiles at Bagshot.
In 1974 Phil was recruited by Trust House Forte to be resident DJ at the Dixieland Showbar, at the end of the historical Pier in Eastbourne. This was the year that ABBA won the Eurovision song contest with Waterloo just down the road at Brighton.
It was off to Spain in 1975 where Phil became the resident DJ of the Hotel Pelicanos (from 1976 through 1978) this is the hotel where the comedy series 'Benidorm' is recorded. After an initial spell on a circuit of 22 resort Hotels. Phil has the honoured position of being the first non Spanish DJ in any hotel on the Costa Blanca and probably further afield. He also worked for a while at VANITY'S Disco. Following 4 enormously successful years he was head-hunted by a hotel group to work in Salou. This involved running a mobile disco around the groups 3 hotels, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. During this time Phil also co-hosted Beauty Contests at the resorts Leading Nightclub, Liberty's.
In 1983 phil hung up his turn-tables to settle down with his wife and start a family. Until the millennium, when he was encouraged, then in his early 40s, to come out of his self-imposed retirement.
